Week 3 Rankings

The Colts stay planted at the top. The Steelers drop only to fifth after their loss Monday night in Jacksonville. It was Ben Roethlisberger's season debut, after all. The Ravens look like they're for real and jump into the top 10. The winless Panthers get a little bit of a pass because they haven't had Steve Smith, quite possibly the most valuable player in the league last season, on the field yet. At the bottom, it's becoming clear there are some truly dreadful teams in the NFL this season.

Did any other teams besides the $kin$ lose and only go down one spot? Homer.

Bills beat Miami. Bills beat Miami in Miami. But Miami is a better team than the Bills. Huh?

Mark, you have maintained for some time that the Eagles are the worst team in the NFC East. What changed?

Posted by: Washington | September 19, 2006 4:09 PM

@Washington:

It's pretty clear that the Redskins, not the Eagles, are currently by far the worst team in the NFC East.

Having watched the Raiders game also this week, I can tell you that despite the score, they looked much more encouraging than the 'skins.

Not really a Pats fan (transplanted Skins follower), but #10 is a little shocking- The 6th ranked team in the AFC? I don't think so

Giants beat Eagles IN PHILLY. But Eagles is a better team than the Eagles. Huh Huh?

Dallas only moves up on place while the Eagles who gave a game away in the at home 4th quarter stay in the top 15? And the 0-2 Panthers stay ahead of the Cowboys? You're argument about the Panthers not having Steve Smith is shaky one. The Skins don't have Shawn Springs, arguably their defensive MVP, either. And they don't have a healthy Portis, their offensive MVP. This is the NFL, a really good team should be able to overcome missing one player or two no matter how influential the player is. If the Panthers are truly Super Bowl quality they wouldn't rely on a Steve Smith exception.

Not only are the Dolphins are rated higher than the Bills, but the 'skins.

Come on, does anyone think the 'skins could win a road game against Miami?

Does anyone think the 'skins would win a game against the Bills?

Perhaps a thing called 'stats' is figuring into all this? Its week #2, cut him some slack. Besides from one Homer to another we all go to other cities papers and vent, brag, etc.......

I agree with many uh huhs. The Rams lose to the 49ers FOR THE THIRD TIME IN A ROW, but they are 19 and the 49ers 25th?

Not buying it.

I don't get the Miami being ranked ahead of Buffalo. In a head-to-head division game this early in the season that ranking doesn't sit well with me. Don't results count over perceived strength this early in the season.

Jets and Bills are both 1-1 and both looked strong in their one loss (both to the Patriots - a team you have in your top ten), however both teams are ranked lower than the Redskins, who have looked pretty bad in both of their losses (losses to teams not even in your top ten). Doesn't make much sense.

As a lifetime fan of the Bolts I appreciate the placement - #8.

However, as a lifetime fan of the Bolts, I think it may be a little premature.

They have a bye this week, followed by @Baltimore then @Home for Pittsburg. A win or two out of that and they may have something going.
