Goodell Runs First League Meeting as Commissioner

NEW ORLEANS--Roger Goodell oversaw his first owners' meeting as NFL commissioner here today.

But after years of serving as predecessor Paul Tagliabue's top lieutenant in the league office, Goodell said this felt like no big deal.

"I didn't really think much about it today," said Goodell, who officially succeeded the now-retired Tagliabue on Sept. 1. "We had a very productive discussion. We started on time. We finished on time, and we got done what we wanted to get done. I've been in that meeting room for so long and been actively involved in the management of the meetings that it really wasn't significantly different."
