Seahawks Are Stumbling and Bumbling at Wrong Time

The Seattle Seahawks are in trouble.

Deep, deep trouble.

Just when the defending NFC champions should be rounding into top form for the playoffs, they're falling apart.

They survived tailback Shaun Alexander's absence from the lineup earlier this season because of a cracked bone in his foot. They survived quarterback Matt Hasselbeck's absence because of a sprained knee ligament. Now both are back, and the Seahawks should be getting things together.

Instead, they've lost two straight games, falling at Arizona on Sunday and to the San Francisco 49ers back at home Thursday night.

The Seahawks, at 8-6, still lead the pitiable NFC West by two games. They're still headed to the playoffs, and they're fortunate to be in a conference in which every team has a significant flaw. But there's no reason to believe at this point that, even with Alexander and Hasselbeck back in the lineup, this team is Super Bowl material again.
