Week 16 Picks

Local Teams

Redskins at Rams
Two straight road wins would be too much to ask for this Redskins team.
Pick: Rams

Ravens at Steelers
Suddenly, the Steelers look like a defending Super Bowl champion.
Pick: Steelers

Lock of the Week

Bears at Lions
Do you even need to ask why?
Pick: Bears

Upset of the Week

Buccaneers at Browns
The switch to Tim Rattay at QB doesn't do much for the Bucs' long-term prospects but should enable them to win this dreadful game.
Pick: Buccaneers

Games of the Week

Saints at Giants
The Saints must redeem themselves for last weekend's performance against the Redskins but it's an absolute must-win for the Giants in what presumably is Tiki Barber's final game at Giants Stadium.
Pick: Giants

Patriots at Jaguars
Tom Brady just was snubbed for the Pro Bowl and the Patriots have been up and down lately, but the Jaguars are tough at home.
Pick: Jaguars

Eagles at Cowboys (Monday)
The Cowboys are simply better.
Pick: Cowboys

Other Games

Vikings at Packers (Thursday)
The Packers get to play a rookie quarterback making a first NFL start in Tarvaris Jackson.
Pick: Packers

Chiefs at Raiders (Saturday)
The Chiefs could use eight players on defense as a cost-saving measure and still shut out the Raiders.
Pick: Chiefs

Titans at Bills
The Titans have to lose sometime, don't they?
Pick: Bills

Panthers at Falcons
The Panthers look an awful lot like a team that's given up.
Pick: Falcons

Colts at Texans
The Colts have reason to be confident again.
Pick: Colts

Cardinals at 49ers
Mike Nolan has gotten the Niners back to respectable.
Pick: 49ers

Bengals at Broncos
The Bengals gave a dud of a performance Monday night in Indianapolis but they should fare better against Jay Cutler than they did against Peyton Manning.
Pick: Bengals

Chargers at Seahawks
The Seahawks are in full retreat and the Chargers remain the league's least flawed team.
Pick: Chargers

Jets at Dolphins (Monday night)
Joey Harrington rebounds from last week's terrible performance.
Pick: Dolphins

Record
Last Week: 10-6
Season: 130-94

"Ravens at Steelers

What are you smoking?

Steelers won 3 in a row - against Cleveland, Tampa Bay, and Carolina. My mother could beat those teams.

Steelers lost 27-0 to the Ravens in Baltimore. No way the Steelers are winning (or even coming close)

Bucs over Browns?! No way. The Browns will stagger to their feet and pull off the victory this weekend. As bad as the Browns have been most of the season the Bucs are actually worse.

The Cowboys are simply better. Yet they managed to lose to the Eagles once already.

Perhaps they're better. But the evidence on the field so far doesn't back that up.

To TOM:

what eveidence on the field are you talking about???

That game was a whole long time ago and things have changed since then. Eagles have high numbers on offense, but overall the cowboys have better defense, special teams, and with the home field advantage, should have their offense rolling.

pick:cowboys

The Skins will win two in a row! Not only will the run game be there, but JCs arm will be impressive as well. Rogers will be shakey, making a few plays and getting schooled by Holt at least once. Archuletta is still dogged in his home coming, but he plays a few defensive plays.

"That game was a whole long time ago"

Amen to that. It's like some fans of some sports teams who won a superbowl 20 years ago and then feel some sort of superiority that their team "has a ring".

Yeah, when Nixon was in office.

So when some Eagles fan comes around here talking about beating the cowboys remind them that it happened like 6 weeks ago and is irrelevant.

Giants over Saints?

Mark, what's in your egg nog?

Posted by: Jawja | December 21, 2006 11:05 PM

Credibility has been dropping over the past 6 weeks or so MArk. Better luck next year........

Dear NFL Picks:

I told you so.

Dear Mark:

Again, you picked based on emotion rather than evidence on the field. Eagles had already beaten the Cowboys, plus the blowout by NO was a good indicator of this game.

Let me know if you need help with the picks next week.
