Hasselbeck Played With Two Broken Fingers on Non-Throwing Hand
Seattle Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck told reporters Monday that he played the final half of the regular season with two broken fingers on his non-throwing hand.
Hasselbeck said he suffered non-displaced fractures of the fingers on his left hand during a Nov. 27 game against the Green Bay Packers, his first game back in the Seahawks' lineup after missing four games because of a sprained knee ligament.
He bobbled the snap on a key fourth-down play late in regulation in the Seahawks' overtime defeat Sunday at Chicago in an NFC semifinal. The bobble disrupted the timing of the play and Seattle tailback Shaun Alexander was thrown for a loss. But Seahawks Coach Mike Holmgren told reporters Monday the problem on the play was that center Chris Spencer snapped the ball one count too late, not Hasselbeck's broken fingers.
