Turner Hiring in San Diego Almost Done

Norv Turner's hiring in San Diego is all but done.

An NFL source said the Chargers have settled on Turner and the move will become official as long as there are no snags in contract negotiations.

Turner will succeed Marty Schottenheimer as the team's head coach and the Chargers likely will hire Ted Cottrell as their defensive coordinator.

Marty and now Norv. I hope Steve Spurrier's schedule looks open in 2009. (Or maybe since they're going backwards, it'll be Richie Pettibon.)

Bad choice...granted he had no Defense while with the Skins but passing over Ron Rivera and Mike Singletary was wrong. 7-9 for the BOLTS in 2007.

Hey Joe The Fan,

Good eye. Take it even further back....maybe even Gibbs will eventually return to where it all started?!

Guys nice guys do finish first. Norv is a swell guy but not much of a coach (as history dictates). But he will get along with anybody which was the main reason for Marty getting the boot (both in DC and San Diego).
