Broncos Cut C. Brown, Possibly Ending His NFL Career

The Denver Broncos released defensive end Courtney Brown, the former top overall selection in the NFL draft.

Brown's career has been derailed by a series of injuries since the Cleveland Browns chose him with the top pick in the 2000 draft, just before the Washington Redskins took his Penn State teammate, linebacker LaVar Arrington, with the second selection. Brown has played only 61 of 112 regular season games in seven seasons with the Browns and Broncos.

He underwent another knee surgery last year and missed all of last season, and it's unclear whether he'll be able to resume his NFL career.

This guy doesn't usually get named on those all-time worst draft pick lists, but he's earned it.

It seems like just a few years ago when Courtney Brown and Lavar Arrington were drafted #1 and #2. Now both are in the sunset of the careers. Brutal sport.

Meanwhile, what's going on with Lavar? I didn't hear his name mentioned once in recent weeks during all the free agency movement. Did ANYBODY contact that guy? Is he totally done? Would love to know.

Didnt the Skins take a good look at him as a FA last year? A free agent bust they did not sign. Wow!

He could have been a Redskin! Really now, I remember that draft day - I'm glad we got Levar based on what he DID contribute to a crappy Redskins org during his time here. Sorry you may disagree, but - I was stoked the day we took LA.
