League Awards Compensatory Draft Picks

PHOENIX, Ariz.--The league awarded 32 compensatory draft picks to teams today for losses in free agency.

Four teams--the San Diego Chargers, San Francisco 49ers, Indianapolis Colts and Oakland Raiders--were awarded third-round selections.

The Baltimore Ravens and New England Patriots were awarded four choices each and the Colts three. The Washington Redskins received no compensatory picks.

I have been looking for a follow-up article on this a can't find one. Where did you get your info?

I thought the compensatory draft picks were awarded after free agency period is over.

Compensatory selections are for last season's free agent losses. The Boston Globe looks at the Patriots' free agent losses and their one compensatory free agent signing last season, Reche Caldwell. I haven't found where the league shows its formula for determining the number and rounds of compensatory selections though.

Thanks for the info Pats Fan. But I still can't find the announcements for who gets how many comp picks in the 2007 draft.

I have tried NFL.com, ESPN.com, SportsIllustrated.com, and sportsline.com/nfl/ (thats the NFL part of the CBS sportsline pages) and nobody has announced the comp picks for the 2007 draft.

I am wondering where Mark got the info ... any ideas ?
