Dolphins Eager to Try to Complete T. Green Trade This Week
Quarterback Trent Green and the Miami Dolphins plan to press the Kansas City Chiefs to complete a trade this week that would send Green from the Chiefs to the Dolphins.
Chiefs President Carl Peterson suggested publicly last week that the club should receive second- and seventh-round draft choices for the veteran quarterback. The Dolphins aren't willing to surrender that much. The Chiefs will feel a squeeze at some point because they don't want to keep Green on the books for the $7.2 million salary that he is to earn next season under the terms of his current contract. He apparently has already agreed to a new deal with the Dolphins for a reduced salary.
The Dolphins reportedly intend to trade or release quarterback Daunte Culpepper if they obtain Green.
The Cleveland Browns also have expressed interest in Green but Green's camp has indicated that he wants to go to Miami.
