Eagles Planning for Future at Quarterback

One of Saturday's more intriguing picks was the Philadelphia Eagles selecting Houston quarterback Kevin Kolb with the fourth choice of the second round.

The Eagles lost veteran quarterback Jeff Garcia in free agency, but they added veteran Kelly Holcomb to go with A.J. Feeley behind Donovan McNabb.

McNabb, though, turns 31 this year and is working his way back from the knee injury that cut short his 2006 season. The Eagles' brain trust apparently thought it was time to begin planning for the future, and many teams liked Kolb so much that it was thought he had an outside chance to go in the first round. He missed that, but not by much.
