Jones Writes in Full-Page Newspaper Ad That He'll Change His Ways
Suspended Tennessee Titans cornerback Adam (Pacman) Jones took out a full-page advertisement in today's Tennessean, writing that he intends to try to win back the trust of members of the organization and the team's fans.
"To my family, teammates, coaches and fans, I recognize that I have lost the right to ask for your patience and understanding; however, I will do everything in my power to regain your trust and respect," Jones writes.
Jones was suspended for the entire 2007 season by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell for violating the league's conduct policy. Goodell made the suspension reviewable after 10 games.
Jones writes in his letter in the newspaper ad that, as he previously indicated, he will appeal his suspension. He says that he intends to re-enroll in college at West Virginia to complete work toward his degree.
He writes that his life has "come to a crossroads" and acknowledges he has made "many mistakes." He says he has learned "a lifetime of lessons" and vows to "reorganize my priorities." He says that learning of his suspension "was one of the worst moments of my life."
Jones writes: "Facing the reality that everything I had worked so hard for could be taken away from me in an instant was hard enough, but recognizing that it was due to my own actions has caused me to seriously reflect upon my life and my future."

Ummm, then why are you appealing your suspension? Talking out of both sides of your fat mouth, eh?

Cash flow must be a little low at the Pacman house!

Personally, I'm all for giving the guy a chance to redeem himself. Unless you all have walked in his (childhood) shoes, then you have no idea how traumatic it can be.

Lisa,
Pacman will probably get another chance - if he demonstrably cleans up his act.
But appealing the suspension is not a good start, despite his "legal counsel" advising him to do so. There is nothing illegal about a private organization (the NFL) creating and enforcing a set of rules and standards for its employees (the players). And in this case, they are trying to protect against any possible loss of business from any developing "image problem" caused by players running afoul of the law.
It has less to do with actual criminal charges than the perception of players getting in trouble that the NFL is trying to stop - all in an effort at protecting their bottom line.
Its nothing personal - its just business. And Pacman should just suck it up, clean up his act, and get back to playing football after serving his NFL sentence.

Saying the right things is easy. Doing them on a consistant basis is another matter. We'll see . . .

Wow, the guy Pacman Jones' agent hired to write that one-page ad really knows his stuff when it comes to celebrity pleas for forgiveness. I mean, that guy really loaded it on. I wonder if Jones has even read what it says yet?

Pac Man is actually pretty intelligent...he scored 1200 or 1300 on his SATs.

Pretty articualte words from someone who likes to 'make it rain' before damn near getting someone killed in a strip joint. He must have taken some English lit classes and improved his vocablulary since I last heard him him speak. Interesting how fast 'gangsta' speak evaporates when you threaten to take a way a few million. I am sure he is sincere though. Sucka puh-lease!

Boohoohoo. I am so misunderstood.
I had a bad childhood so I CANT be responsible for my actions as an adult.
If only mommy gave me my pony when I was 8 years old I would have turned out better.
It's all her fault!!!
