Trade With Browns Was Good for Cowboys, Too

The Cleveland Browns are getting plaudits, and rightfully so, for Saturday's trade with the Dallas Cowboys that enabled the Browns to land quarterback Brady Quinn with the draft's 22nd choice after already getting left tackle Joe Thomas with the third pick. That sagging franchise has hope again.

But the Cowboys also deserve credit for making a good trade. They ended up with the Browns' first-round choice next year. If the Browns give significant playing time to a rookie left tackle and a rookie quarterback, taking their lumps while building for the future, they could pile up enough losses that the pick the Cowboys got could be very high in the first-round order.

The Cowboys, meantime, traded back up into the first round Saturday and got Purdue defensive end Anthony Spencer.
