Chiefs Trade R. Sims to Bucs, Cut E. Hicks

The Kansas City Chiefs did some housecleaning on their defensive line, trading tackle Ryan Sims and releasing end Eric Hicks.

Sims was traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for an undisclosed draft pick. He was the sixth overall selection in the 2002 NFL draft but never lived up to his advance billing.

Hicks, a University of Maryland product, is a former starter who had been with the Chiefs since 1998.

The Chiefs used their second and third round draft choices Saturday on defensive tackles Turk McBride of Tennessee and Tank Tyler of N.C. State.

I've always liked Hicks, Gibbs & Co. should take a look at him. We need help on the line.

He can't be worse than what we have. Just don't braek the bank. After no D Line choices in the draft, this is at least like a low round pick, without the youth.
