Favre, Packers At Odds Over Moss Non-Trade

Quarterback Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packers are at odds over the team's inability to trade for wide receiver Randy Moss.

Favre was publicly critical of the Packers over the weekend, saying they should have made more of an effort to land Moss--who was dealt to the New England Patriots instead--and questioning whether he still fits into the franchise's longterm plans. Fox reported on its Web site that Favre asked the Packers to trade him just after the NFL draft but apparently has backed off that request following a conversation with Coach Mike McCarthy.

Favre is not expected to participate in the Packers' minicamp this coming weekend after undergoing offseason surgery to have bone spurs removed from his left ankle. It's unclear whether he will attend the minicamp.

His career is over. It's a shame he didn't retire a couple of years ago and instead makes himself look utterly stupid. The pack have been too accomodating for Favre already.

Agreed. The Packers don't have a shot with or without Favre. They have a good, and expensive, kid sitting on the bench and have lost a minimum on one full year of his development, now going on two. Favre should have retired or been released when Sherman was fired as head coach. The new coach will always be second fiddle while Favre is around and I don't think he'll get a chance to make the team his and turn things around before he is also replaced.

hmm, seems rodgers has an inflated sense of worth elsewhere - might HE be the one we should be trading, then, teddy boy thompson? if you can't get enough zip on the ball to throw a routine out pattern, no amount of pretty lofted mid-range passes will make up for it, and we should be looking ahead. favre still gives the team the best chance to win. and he was more than willing to cut his own pay to bring in someone who could still very well reach the hall of fame, and the packers wouldnt part w/ anything more than a FIFTH ROUNDER?!?
