Owners Award 2011 Super Bowl to Dallas
NASHVILLE, Tenn.--The NFL's franchise owners voted during a meeting here today to award the 2011 Super Bowl to the Dallas area.
Indianapolis and Phoenix also submitted bids, and Dallas and Indianapolis had been regarded as the favorites.
The game is to be played in the $1 billion stadium that's scheduled to be the new home of the Dallas Cowboys beginning in the 2009 season. The retractable-roof stadium is to be built in Arlington, Tex., and is to have a capacity of about 100,000 for special events like the Super Bowl. That capacity apparently was a significant factor in the choice of Dallas over Indianapolis, where a smaller new stadium is being built for the Colts.
"This facility is glass, iron and mortar," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said. "It's nothing until you bring it to life. Thank goodness we have a game that can do that."

Dallas Sucks! And I'm not just talking about their football team.
Why on earth does the NFL continue to send it's signature game to second tier cities like Jacksonville, Detroit, Minneapolis, Atlanta, and now Dallas? There's nothing in Dallas that has the same appeal as parts of Miami, San Diego, LA, or New Orleans before Katrina. Dallas is nothing more than a couple of skyscrapers on flat dusty prarie land. What a joke.
Then again the SB isn't for the actual NFL fan anymore. It's all for the corporate sponsors who pony up billions of dollars to be associated with the NFL.

A $1 billion dollar football stadium. WTF
Glad to see that Texas has solved those homeless/unemployed/crime problems that are troubling the rest of the country.
