Raiders Fire Lombardi

The Oakland Raiders fired front office chief Mike Lombardi on Wednesday.

The move had been expected. Lombardi reportedly feuded with former coach
Art Shell. He outlasted Shell, who was fired after the Raiders' 2-14 season, but not by much.

It's not clear if the Raiders even will replace Lombardi, who had the title of senior personnel executive. They already have turned over many front office duties to Mark Jackson, their director of football operations. If the Raiders do make an addition, one name that's been mentioned as a possibility is that of Mike Mayock, now a draft analyst with the NFL Network.

How has he held a job in the NFL this long? He oversaw some of the worst personnel moves in Browns history, and that is saying something.
