F. Gore Has Broken Hand

San Francisco 49ers tailback Frank Gore, the NFC's leading rusher last season, suffered a broken right hand during the team's practice Monday.

The 49ers expect Gore to be ready for the regular season but might withhold him from the entire exhibition season. It's possible he will resume practicing as soon as next week with a cast on his hand.

Gore signed a five-year, $28 million contract extension in March after running for a club-record 1,695 yards last season.
