S. Rice Might Have Trouble Getting Big Contract
Simeon Rice is 33 years old and coming off a two-sack season, but the veteran defensive end apparently is seeking a lucrative contract after being released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday.
He might have trouble getting it.
Executives with two NFL teams contacted today said they would consider signing Rice only to a modest contract as a part-time pass-rush specialist. Rice was released by the Buccaneers after refusing to accept a pay cut; he was to have a salary of $7.25 million for the upcoming season in Tampa.
