Chiefs, L. Johnson Said to be About $4 Million Apart on New Deal

According to an NFL source, the Kansas City Chiefs and holdout tailback Larry Johnson are about $4 million in guaranteed money apart in their negotiations on a new contract.

The Chiefs' offer, the source said, contains approximately $19 million in guarantees and Johnson is seeking about $23 million.

San Diego Chargers tailback LaDainian Tomlinson has a contract with $21 million in guaranteed money.

There had been some hope that the Chiefs and Johnson could complete a deal this week, but the two sides have been unable so far to resolve their final differences.

Johnson is entering the final season of a contract scheduled to pay him $1.9 million this year.
