Culpepper, McCown Still Vying for Raiders' Starting Job

Oakland Raiders Coach Lane Kiffin is waiting until after Thursday night's preseason finale against the Seattle Seahawks to name his starting quarterback for the regular season.

Kiffin has eliminated Andrew Walter from the competition, and rookie JaMarcus Russell remains unsigned. That leaves Daunte Culpepper and Josh McCown still in the running.

Yeah well whoever is advising Russell better wake up, they are putting this kid in such a hole he won't catch up this year and will really be a rookie next year. Culpepper may own the team by then. I sure would like to see how good the rookie is.

Russell's probably better off sitting out the season and just re-entering the draft next year. Oakland is a disaster of an organization. The fact that's taken them this long to sign this guy should tell you what a mess they are.

Please,

Al Davis needs to step up or step down.

You can't use the top pick and offer a low first round contract.

Yes, Jamarcus will lose out now, but will gain in the end. Hold your ground.

JaMarcus Russell hasn't played a pro game and wants to be the highest paid rookie? Al Davis is not that dumb!

Russel is right to hold out. He will be a starting QB and would be better served by reentering the draft next year. Al Davis should swap ownership with the Devil Rays. Oakland/LA deserve better management.
