Huard Gets Chiefs' Starting Nod Over Mistake-Prone Croyle

The Kansas City Chiefs named Damon Huard their starting quarterback.

Huard won a competition with youngster Brodie Croyle.

Huard played well last season as a fill-in starter while Trent Green was sidelined by a concussion, finishing the season as the NFL's second-rated passer behind Peyton Manning. Huard re-signed with the team this past offseason, while Green was traded to the Miami Dolphins.

Coach Herman Edwards and other Chiefs officials nevertheless put the starting job up for grabs and seemed eager to turn over the position to Croyle if he showed he was ready. But Croyle had a mistake-plagued preseason and even a calf injury didn't keep Huard from getting the nod.

Doggone it, you gave away the drama of this week's "Hard Knocks" episode. Say--why don't the Chiefs let viewers vote for the starting qb on HBO.com? If Len Dawson wins, he could run a play or two. It's not like they're going to the Super Bowl this year, anyway.

You do one hell of a job Mr. Maske, why not come over and cover the Redskins full time, we need a full timer!
