Huard Hurting in Chiefs' Quarterback Competition
Quarterback Damon Huard has been bothered by a sore calf muscle and missed the Kansas City Chiefs' practice Monday. He could miss Thursday night's preseason game against the New Orleans Saints.
Huard is competing with youngster Brodie Croyle for the Chiefs' starting job, and it's unclear if Huard's injury will affect the competition. Huard played extremely well last season while filling in for the injured Trent Green, finishing the season as the league's second-rated passer behind Peyton Manning, and re-signed with the Chiefs in the offseason. But Chiefs officials are enamored with Croyle and might choose youth and potential over experience.
