Bengals Lose Rookie Tailback Irons to Season-Ending Knee Injury

Tailback Kenny Irons's rookie season with the Cincinnati Bengals is over before it even started.

Irons suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during Thursday's exhibition opener against the Detroit Lions.

The Bengals selected Irons in the second round of the NFL draft in April out of Auburn. He had been slated to back up starter Rudi Johnson.
