Raiders Practicing Without Sick Coach

Being the youngest head coach in the NFL hasn't kept Lane Kiffin healthy this summer.

The Oakland Raiders' rookie coach has spent the past two nights at a Napa, Calif., hosptial because of a viral infection. There was some hope that Kiffin, 32, could rejon the team today. Offensive coordinator Greg Knapp and defensive coordinator Rob Ryan have been running the Raiders' practices in Kiffin's absence.

Why is it that anybody that get a viral infection and is involved in sports, has to go to a hospital? Us merely mortal humans have to let our immune system build antibodies to fight the infection. No hospitals are usually involved.

Is this similar to the "metal breakdowns" or "exhaustion" people now have, instead of "drying out?"
