Carr Seems Likely to Start Sunday for Panthers

David Carr likely will make his first start at quarterback for the Carolina Panthers on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Usual Panthers starter Jake Delhomme missed his second straight practice Thursday after suffering a strained right elbow last weekend.

Carr was signed by the Panthers in the offseason to back up Delhomme after being released by the Houston Texans. He was the top overall selection in the 2002 NFL draft by the Texans and was Houston's starter for five seasons.
