Early-Season Desperation for Giants?

It seems like a bit of a desperation move for the New York Giants to have started Eli Manning at quarterback today.

You would expect a team to err on the side of caution when dealing with a shoulder injury to its young franchise quarterback. But the Giants were looking at the possibility of an 0-2 start in a make-or-break season for Coach Tom Coughlin, and Manning started the game a week after hurting his right shoulder in a season-opening loss at Dallas.

It didn't help as the Giants lost to the Green Bay Packers to fall to 0-2.

The Giants play the Washington Redskins next weekend.
