Grossman Benching Is Official
The Chicago Bears made it official today and announced that Brian Griese has been elevated to the starting quarterback job, ahead of Rex Grossman.
Griese is to start Sunday's game at Detroit.
Grossman was benched after throwing six interceptions and only one touchdown pass in the Bears' first three games of the season, in which the defending NFC champions went 1-2.
"Brian Griese will be our starting quarterback," Bears Coach Lovie Smith said at a news conference. "Right now, we are not getting a whole lot done. It's not one person [but] I think we need a breath of fresh air."
