Remember When M. Lewis Was a Defensive Genius?

Didn't Marvin Lewis used to be a defensive genius?

Lewis has done an often-commendable job as a head coach in turning the Bengals from laughingstocks into perennial playoff contenders. But they've been unable to take the step from pretty good to very good because Lewis, the former coordinator of a championship-winning defense in Baltimore, has been unable to build a solid defense in Cincinnati.

And now, giving up 51 points to a Cleveland Browns team that traded its starting quarterback after the season's opening weekend and seemed to be just counting the time until Brady Quinn took over?

That's really, really ugly.
