Delhomme's Return to Panthers' Lineup Doesn't Appear Imminent

The Carolina Panthers likely will be without quarterback Jake Delhomme for a second straight game because of his injured right elbow.

Delhomme might attempt to do some throwing this week but it's unlikely that he'll be able to play, and David Carr probably will make a second start in a row.

The Panthers have called Delhomme's injury, suffered during a game against the Atlanta Falcons, a strained elbow, and Coach John Fox initially announced that surgery would not be necessary. But Fox and Delhomme have acknowledged since then that surgery is a possibility, and it's unclear when Delhomme might play again.
