Niners Could Get Badly Needed Boost From A. Smith's Return to Lineup

Quarterback Alex Smith took all the snaps during the San Francisco 49ers' practice Wednesday and, barring a setback later in the week, is slated to return to the lineup Sunday against the New Orleans Saints.

Smith suffered a separated right shoulder during a Sept. 30 game against the Seattle Seahawks. The 49ers lost that game and went 0-2 with Trent Dilfer as the starter in the two games after that.
