Testaverde's Play Gives Fox a Quarterback Decision to Make for Panthers

The Carolina Panthers have an unlikely quarterback controversy that can percolate during their bye week.

Coach John Fox told reporters Tuesday that he wasn't ready to commit to a starter yet for when the club returns from its bye.

Vinny Testaverde was signed by the Panthers last week and, with David Carr unable to play because of an ailing back, immediately engineered Sunday's triumph over the Arizona Cardinals. Carr had taken over as the starter because of Jake Delhomme's season-ending elbow injury.

"I think right now we're going to evaluate it as we go," Fox said during a news conference. "I think it's good to have options. We didn't have these same options a week ago or really the last couple of weeks. I'm not going to commit to it now."
