Ankle, Thumb Injuries Leave McNabb's Playing Status This Week Unclear
Philadelphia Eagles Coach Andy Reid indicated today it's unclear if quarterback Donovan McNabb will be in the club's lineup for this weekend's game at New England.
McNabb suffered ankle and thumb injuries during Sunday's victory over the winless Miami Dolphins and gave way to backup A.J. Feeley.
The ankle injury forced McNabb from the game in the second quarter. McNabb's ankle was swollen today, Reid said. According to Reid, McNabb also had a swollen thumb on his right (throwing) hand. The thumb isn't broken but could be problematic, Reid said.
"I'm as worried about the thumb as I am about the ankle," Reid said during a news conference, "maybe a little bit more."
Feeley presumably would start Sunday night against the unbeaten Patriots in Foxborough, Mass., if McNabb is unable to play.
