D. Green, Monk, Grimm, Jacoby Among Hall of Fame Semifinalists
Four former Washington Redskins standouts made the list of 26 semifinalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame announced today.
Cornerback Darrell Green, wide receiver Art Monk and offensive linemen Russ Grimm and Joe Jacoby made the list, which was reduced from 124 preliminary nominees.
Green was one of two players to make the list in his first year of Hall of Fame eligibility, along with Cris Carter.
The other semifinalists are Terrell Davis, Dermontti Dawson, Fred Dean, Richard Dent, Randy Gradishar, Kevin Greene, Ray Guy, Charles Haley, Lester Hayes, Rickey Jackson, Cortez Kennedy, Bob Kuechenberg, Randall McDaniel, Andre Reed, Ken Stabler, Paul Tagliabue, Steve Tasker, Derrick Thomas, Andre Tippett, George Young and Gary Zimmerman.
The list will be pared to 15 modern era finalists in January and they, along with seniors committee nominees Marshall Goldberg and Emmitt Thomas, will be considered by the media members who serve as Hall of Fame selectors. The voters will choose four to seven enshrinees during their election meeting in Phoenix on Feb. 2, the day before the Super Bowl.

DARRELL! DARRELL! DARRELL! He's sure to be an inductee in his first year of eligibility, no? Or is that my Burgandy and Gold colored glasses opinion?
Also, Monk should already be in there. Let's have 2 Redskins get in this year.

Darrell Green is a shoo-in, but Art Monk unfortunately isn't.
With Cris Carter coming up for HOF eligibility (and his numbers dwarf Monk's in the TD department), I don't see Art getting in. That's all the ammunition that Pete King and his posse will need to keep Art out.

Yup, King and his posse are first class jerks. Granted, the national sports media as a whole have never liked the Skins. It is pretty incredible that a team that won 3 Super Bowls has only player from it in the HOF. That being Riggo.
Also, it is hard to believe that Kooch and The Snake are not in the HOF. Goes to show that glitz and glam are all that is needed to be selected nowadays, instead of the hardcore players that made the league what it is today.

I still can't believe Art Monk is not already in. He deserved it two years ago.
