Jones Scheduled to Meet With Commissioner Today But Suspension Not Expected to be Reduced

Suspended Tennessee Titans cornerback Adam (Pacman) Jones is scheduled to meet with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell today in New York.

But several league sources familiar with Jones's case said they do not expect Goodell to shorten Jones's suspension to make him eligible to play in any games this season.

Jones is serving a season-long suspension for violating the league's personal conduct policy. When Goodell imposed the suspension last offseason, he made it reviewable after 10 games.

In two other cases, Goodell has allowed a suspended player to begin practicing before the suspension ended but has not permitted the player to begin participating in games. Those cases involved Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry and Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Tank Johnson, both of whom are serving half-season suspensions.

In Jones's case, it's unclear whether Goodell would find any reason to allow Jones to practice with the Titans if he's not going to play in any games this season. In the cases of Henry and Johnson, practicing with their teams enabled them to ready for upcoming games.

In Jones's case, it's also unclear if the Titans will allow him to return to the team when his suspension ends.
