Kiffin Goes Back to McCown as Raiders' Starter at Quarterback
The Oakland Raiders are going back to Josh McCown as their starting quarterback.
Coach Lane Kiffin announced today that McCown will start this weekend against the Houston Texans, ahead of Daunte Culpepper. McCown began the season as the Raiders' starter but lost the job after suffering a broken toe. The club went 1-3 with Culpepper as the starter and has produced little on offense in recent weeks.
There has been speculation recently that prized rookie JaMarcus Russell could receive playing time soon if the Raiders continue to struggle. But Russell missed all of training camp and the preseason because of a contract dispute, and the Raiders at least will give McCown another chance first.
