B. Sanders Agrees to Contract Extension With Colts

The Indianapolis Colts have agreed to a contract extension with Bob Sanders to keep the standout safety from being an unrestricted free agent in the spring, an NFL source said.

Sanders and the Colts have agreed to a five-year contract worth around $38 million, said the source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the agreement has not been officially announced. The deal includes approximately $20 million in guaranteed money.

Sanders has a history of injuries but has remained healthy and in the lineup this season. The Colts have had one of the league's top defenses and Sanders is a candidate for the NFL's defensive player of the year award.
