K. Everett Reportedly Regains Ability to Walk
Buffalo Bills tight end Kevin Everett, who suffered a life-threatening spinal cord injury in the opening game of the season, reportedly has regained the ability to walk.
The Associated Press quoted a person close to the family as saying that Everett is walking on his own at a Houston rehabilitation facility, although not yet with a normal stride. Everett attends the facility on an outpatient basis and has been walking under his own power since his release three weeks ago, the AP reported.
Everett was injured making a tackle on a kickoff against the Denver Broncos. His doctors originally said it was unlikely that Everett would ever walk again. But the prognosis improved as Everett made rapid progress in his recovery.
He was moved to Houston, his home town, for his rehabilitation, and he addressed his teammates and Bills fans in a taped message shown before a nationally televised game last month against the New England Patriots.
