Dolphins Appear Close to Hiring GM
The Miami Dolphins appear close to hiring Dallas Cowboys scouting executive Jeff Ireland as their general manager.
Ireland was interviewed by new Dolphins front office chief Bill Parcells late Tuesday and today. Dolphins owner Wayne Huizenga joined the deliberations today.
Ireland worked closely with Parcells in Dallas and has been regarded as the favorite for the job in Miami since Parcells fired Randy Mueller as the Dolphins' GM on Monday. Parcells also interviewed Joey Clinkscales, the college scouting director for the New York Jets.
Once he hires a general manager, Parcells could make a decision about whether to retain Cam Cameron as the Dolphins' coach. Parcells met with Cameron on Tuesday but then quickly returned to his GM search.
