It's Official: Niners Retain Nolan, Promote McCloughan, Fire Hostler

The San Francisco 49ers retained Mike Nolan as their coach and promoted Scot McCloughan from vice president of player personnel to general manager.

McCloughan inherits final say over player-related moves from Nolan.

The 49ers also fired Jim Hostler as their offensive coordinator, perhaps clearing the way for them to hire Mike Martz.
