No Decision By Favre

PHOENIX--Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre said today he hasn't decided yet whether he will return to play next season.

"I haven't decided yet," Favre said. "We just played a little over a week ago and I'm going to take a few more weeks."

Favre, who participated in a news conference at which he was named the FedEx air player of the year, said he will speak to Packers Coach Mike McCarthy after McCarthy returns from coaching in next weekend's Pro Bowl.

The Packers lost to the New York Giants in overtime in the NFC title game. Favre said he thought the Packers had a "great year" that was "pretty remarkable" after they went 8-8 last season and 4-12 the season before that.

"I would much rather be preparing for this game to play," Favre said. "But that's the way it goes. We put ourselves into a position going into the championship game that no one thought we'd be in.... It would have been nice to be here but it's not the end of the world."

Favre said he "could care less" about the outcome of the Super Bowl since the Packers aren't involved. He said the disappointing finish to the Packers' season won't influence his decision about whether to keep playing.

"The game the other day will not play into my decision-making.... I think it's more: Am I willing to go through the journey, the ups and downs?... Do I want to put in the time in the offseason to prepare?" Favre said.
