Eagles Release Kearse

The Philadelphia Eagles released defensive end Jevon Kearse, who had only 3-1/2 sacks this past season.

The Eagles signed Kearse as a free agent before the 2004 season and he helped them reach the Super Bowl that season, with 7-1/2 sacks.

He matched that total in his second season in Philadelphia but totaled only seven sacks in the past seasons, while playing in a total of 16 games.

Kearse has 69-1/2 sacks in nine NFL seasons, the first five of which came with the Tennessee Titans.
