Eagles Tag L.J. Smith
The Philadelphia Eagles have placed their franchise player tag on tight end L.J. Smith.
The move in effect takes Smith off the unrestricted free agent market in three weeks. The Eagles have the right to retain Smith by matching any contract offer that he receives from another team, and a club would have to surrender two first-round draft choice to the Eagles to pry away Smith
Smith would receive a salary of $4.522 million from the Eagles next season if he remains the franchise player.
