Giants, Coughlin Closing In on New Deal

An NFL source this morning confirmed reports in New York media outlets that the Giants are close to completing a contract extension with Coach Tom Coughlin.

The four-year extension likely will be worth about $20 million, said the source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because negotiations are not completed. An announcement could come by the end of the week.

Coughlin has one season remaining on his current contract but ensured himself of a lucrative new deal by leading the Giants to a Super Bowl triumph over the previously unbeaten New England Patriots.
