McFadden Dazzles

INDIANAPOLIS--The buzz of the scouting combine Sunday was the time of 4.27 seconds that Arkansas tailback Darren McFadden posted, by one clocking, in his first 40-yard dash run.

He was timed at 4.33 seconds in his second attempt.

If anyone doubted that McFadden was a candidate to be the top overall choice in April, think again. His 40-yard dash time reinforces the notion that he's a potential game-breaker and team-changer in the mold of this past season's runaway NFL rookie of the year, tailback Adrian Peterson of the Minnesota Vikings. The teams that passed over Peterson last spring certainly are regretting it now, and any club will have to think twice before passing over McFadden this time around.

The team that should be the happiest about McFadden's combine performance is the Miami Dolphins, who have the top overall selection. The Dallas Cowboys have been playing down the rumors that they might use their two first-rounders to trade up for the Dolphins' pick. But the better McFadden looks, the better the Dolphins' offers might be.
