Goodell Says Measures In Cheating Crackdown Will Be Enacted
PALM BEACH, Fla.--Commissioner Roger Goodell said today that he will implement the measures in his proposed crackdown on cheating whether they're supported by the NFL's franchise owners or not.
Goodell said the proposals have been well-received by the league's competition committee and the owners. But Goodell is empowered to enact many of the measures without ratification by the owners, and he said he will put them into effect.
The measures that don't require approval by the owners include unannounced inspections by league officials of teams' locker rooms, stadium press boxes and in-game communication equipment; and a lowering of the standard of proof required to impose discipline for infractions.
