L. Fitzgerald Agrees to New Contract to Remain in Arizona

Wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald has agreed to a new four-year, $40 million contract that will keep him with the Arizona Cardinals and free salary cap space for the team.

Fitzgerald announced the agreement on his Web site and indicated that the deal contains $30 million in guaranteed money.

Escalator clauses in Fitzgerald's previous contract had pushed Fitzgerald's salaries to an unwieldy $14.6 million next season and $17.4 million in the 2009 season. Those numbers produced speculation that the Cardinals wouldn't be able to keep Fitzgerald without negotiating a new contract with him, although club officials said they expected to retain Fitzgerald next season with or without a reworked deal.

The Philadelphia Eagles reportedly inquired about the possibility of trading for Fitzgerald but were told by the Cardinals that he wasn't available.

Now, what about Boldin? Rumors are starting already (Schefter) that Cards will be looking to trade him. I would expect the Eagles to get him if so, or Snyder will finally get off his seat and trade a lot of picks away.
