C. Johnson STILL Wants Out of Cincy
You have to give this much to wide receiver Chad Johnson:
He isn't giving up when it comes to trying to get the Cincinnati Bengals to trade him.
In comments attributed to Johnson by ESPN, he said today that he wants to be traded before the NFL draft if possible and he won't report to any team functions if he's not.
"I want to be traded before the draft, and if that doesn't happen, I want to be traded as soon as possible," Johnson said, according to the network's web site. "I don't intend on reporting to anything."
The Washington Redskins have been among the teams reported as being possibly interested in trading for Johnson if the Bengals agree to part with him.
The problem is, the Bengals would have to absorb a cumbersome salary cap hit of more than $8 million next season to trade him, and Coach Marvin Lewis has said the team has no intention of doing so. Lewis's club also just lost a talented player at the position when the Bengals released troubled wideout Chris Henry.
Many people around the league believe that Bengals owner Mike Brown becomes more adamant about not trading Johnson every time the wide receiver lobbies publicly for a deal.
But that hasn't led Johnson to change his tactics, at least not yet.
