Jones-to-Cowboys Trade Could Be On Again
There are rumblings that the proposed trade of suspended cornerback Adam (Pacman) Jones from the Tennessee Titans to the Dallas Cowboys perhaps could be completed in the coming days.
The trade discussions had stalled at the recent league meeting but apparently have been re-started. It's unclear what the compensation would be if the Titans trade Jones to the Cowboys. The Titans reportedly had been seeking two draft choices over the next two years, while the Cowboys had been offering one pick.
The Titans also had been demanding that Jones refund signing bonus money from his original contract, according to reports. Jones and his representatives reportedly have offered to waive future payments owed to Jones by the Titans in an attempt to satisfy that demand.
Jones's representatives reportedly plan to petition NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell on Tuesday to reinstate Jones, who has suspended for a year under the league's personal conduct policy. Goodell has said that he will consider Jones's possible reinstatement before training camp.
Goodell said at the league meeting that he'd made no commitments about Jones's availability to teams that had inquired about the subject.
