Mock Draft
It's a tough-to-figure draft, beginning with no one in the league having much of an idea what the Dolphins are going to do with the top pick.
The Top 10:
1. Dolphins... Jake Long, T, Michigan... Bill Parcells is keeping everyone guessing but at this point, Jake Long would be the pick if the contract can be worked out before the draft.
2. Rams... Glenn Dorsey, DT, LSU... The Rams probably would take Jake Long if the Dolphins go in another direction, but Dorsey seems to have put to rest some of the injury concerns about him.
3. Falcons... Chris Long, DE, Virginia... The Falcons might pass on Matt Ryan if they think they can trade back up into the first round to get another quarterback, possibly Joe Flacco.
4. Raiders... Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas... The Raiders cross their fingers and hope they're getting this year's version of Adrian Peterson.
5. Chiefs... Ryan Clady, T, Boise State... Possible landing spot number two for Ryan, but Clady's stock seems to be rising.
6. Jets... Vernon Gholston, DE, Ohio State... Will the Jets take Gholston to keep him away from the Patriots?
7. Patriots... Leodis McKelvin, CB, Troy... The Patriots get a possible replacement for Asante Samuel.
8. Ravens... Matt Ryan, QB, Boston College... If Ryan falls past the eighth pick, he could be in quite a plummet.
9. Bengals... Sedrick Ellis, DT, USC... The best player left.
10. Saints... Keith Rivers, LB, USC... Some in the league have him as a top-10 talent; others see him dropping to late in the first round.
The Rest:
11. Bills... Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, CB, Tennessee State
12. Broncos... Jeff Otah, T, Pitt
13. Panthers... Aqib Talib, CB, Kansas
14. Bears... Devin Thomas, WR, Michigan State
15. Lions... Derrick Harvey, DE, Florida
16. Cardinals... Chris Williams, T, Vanderbilt
17. Vikings... DeSean Jackson, WR, Cal
18. Texans... Mike Jenkins, CB, South Florida
19. Eagles... Branden Albert, G, Virginia
20. Buccaneers... Limas Sweed, WR, Texas
21. Redskins... Phillip Merling, DE, Clemson
22. Cowboys... Rashard Mendenhall, RB, Illinois
23. Steelers... Kenny Phillips, S, Miami
24. Titans... Calais Campbell, DE, Miami
25. Seahawks... Jonathan Stewart, RB, Oregon
26. Jaguars... Brandon Flowers, CB, Virginia Tech
27. Chargers... Jerod Mayo, LB, Tennessee
28. Cowboys... Kentwan Balmer, DT, North Carolina
29. 49ers... Malcolm Kelly, WR, Oklahoma
30. Packers... Gosder Cherilus, T, Boston College
31. Giants... Dan Connor, LB, Penn State

Cowboys fan here. No way do they go DT in the first round. With aging cornerbacks and wide receivers, a big contract for Jay Ratliff and Tank Johnson to back him up at minimum salary, there is no way they take a DT. With their first three picks, they will certainly go RB, WR and CB (in no particular order). I would expect the RB to be the second round pick, but that depends on availability.

Bills fan here.
The bills won't take a CB in the first round,
WR, TE, DE

Mark did one of the girls in the office help with this or did you pull everything out of a hat? Ryan will fall with someone jumping back in late ala Quinn. Flacco is the new Ben w/ someone taking a flyer. McFadden is somewhere between Bush and Peterson, but potentially a steal. Hopefully Skins are on the clock when someone desperately wants Ryan

As a Vikings fan I can only hope that a WR is not part of the plan.

Bill Barker - what do the Cowboys give to move up if McFadden is on the board at #7? Is there a deal there? jones is supposed to be obsessing about the guy.

I agree that Randy Moss did have a good year with the Vikings but what about the most recent speedster Williamson? It does prove the often claim that the QB needs to be able to make some decent passes also. As a MN fan I can tell you we are missing two huge pieces to the puzzle. A QB and a guy that sacks the opposing QB.

I think that MN made a great move in the trade to get Allen from the Chiefs. We now need a QB, and soon the MN fans should be cheering in the playoffs this coming season. As a MN fan it is refreshing to see an ownership spend the necessary money to make it happen.

Well the Vikings picked up Tyrell Johnson at #43, not bad. Lot's of scouts picked him in the first round.

Mark: As a Pats fan, I think there is no way they do not trade out of #7 if Gholston is gone and either McFadden or Ryan is still on the board.
In the Mock you have drawn up, Talib falls to the Panthers with Ryan going to the Ravens at #8. You have 3 CBs going between #7 and #13. Unless the Ravens not getting Ryan leads to a run on CBs, one of those guys would be there at #13 if the Pats traded down. If they just worked out a deal where Seward can go to the Pats along with Pick #13 for Pick #7 (not dissimilar to the Welker deal last year), the Pats would end up with a young LB and a CB instead of stretching for a CB. I can't guess what McFadden would bring (I'm not sure the Cowboys would part with 2 picks in the 2d half of the 1st round unless they obsess about him). Finally, in the scenario you have, would not the Pats at least play B-More against other Ryan pursuers and swap picks with something extra thrown in?
