Seven of Eight NFL Network Games Are On Thursday Nights

The league obviously prefers Thursday night games to Saturday night games on the NFL Network.

The eight-game package for the league-owned television channel includes seven Thursday night games and only one Saturday nighter.

The Thursday night games begin on Nov. 6, three weeks before Thanksgiving, with Denver at Cleveland.

The other Thursday night games on the NFL Network are the New York Jets at New England on Nov. 13, Cincinnati at Pittsburgh on Nov. 20, Arizona at Philadelphia on Thanksgiving night on Nov. 27, Oakland at San Diego on Dec. 4, New Orleans at Chicago on Dec. 11 and Indianapolis at Jacksonville on Dec. 18.

The only Saturday night game is Baltimore at Dallas on Dec. 20.

This will be the third season that the NFL Network has carried an eight-game package of regular season games on Thursday and Saturday nights.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said at the recent league meeting that he and the franchise owners remain committed to the NFL Network despite the ongoing disputes with several cable carriers over distribution and pricing, which have kept the ratings for games on the channel lower than the owners originally had anticipated.
